If I was a swan, I’d be gone…

The wonders of digital. On film I'd never have bothered scanning this obvious mistake. But in digital... swan_2060077.jpg ...I started playing around in Olympus Studio, added a medium red filter, cropped a bit, and, presto -- quite an atmospheric result!

What are your thoughts on the grid screen? Did you leave it in? Do you like it better than the other screen?

I enjoy reading about your experiences. Thanks.

Well it's all a bit embarassing. Actually I ended up buying a second one, because I got the first irretrievably dusty then scratched. Minor, minor marks on the surface are disasters when looking through the viewfinder. In my experience, the screen is very tricky to replace, the procedure is badly documented, and the tweezers are inappropriate. Also, with the second one, I was so nervous that I didn't push the holder in properly. I only realised afterwards when it seemed that the AF was not working properly (I had to look quickly to see if I'd picked up a Canon 10D by mistake :-p ). BUT having said all this, it is well worth it for me. There is no real drawback to the grid, it doesn't distract me, but with the small viewfinder (compared to the 35mm or medium format systems I'm used to) it can be pretty tricky to keep horizons level. So as far as I'm concerned, it will stay in permanently. Changing screens is NOT something you want to do on a regularly basis 😊

Of course I could just be clumsy...
